This is one of my favourite ads, the infamous Triple Cross Jump that became part of this @etnies ad which hit magazines in 1999. It features Mike Cinqmars (Moto), @mikeescamilla (BMX) and @brianpatch (Skate) simultaneously jumping over eachother. This stunt has also been filmed by Jay Schweitzer @onthepipeseries and Kurt Haller for @motoxxxofficial , where you can see a couple failed attempts as well as the landed one. What makes this so gnarly is not only the timing of the jump as well as the incredible shot that Matt Chapman was able to get out of it, it was also that tiny landing that Cinq was hitting after this huge jump. Just to highlight how freaking small it was — it was just as tall as an adult person standing on the ground. Nevertheless, Cinq was able to land precisely on it, once again showing how technically skilled he was.

This ad to me is also a perfect visualization of the late 90s / early 2000s action sports vibe, where athletes from different action sports were strongly connected with eachother and creating a totally unique sense of camaraderie. Next to the fact that I miss the old days of FMX, it is also that kind of vibe between different sports that I do miss nowadays.
